Best Link in Bio for Musicians 2026: 5 Tools Ranked

For most indie musicians the best link in bio is Beacons on a budget, thanks to the strongest free tier here, or Feature.fm if your bio link mainly routes fans to a new release. Below, five tools ranked on what actually matters for artists: streaming embeds, email capture, analytics that are not paywalled, and price.

Before the ranking, one distinction most roundups skip. If you are releasing music, you need a smart link. If you are building an audience, you need a bio page. They are different products, and most working artists end up needing both while paying for only one.

What is the difference between a smart link and a bio page?

A smart link takes one release URL and sends each listener to the streaming service they already use: Spotify users land in Spotify, Apple Music users in Apple Music. It exists to serve a launch. Feature.fm, Linkfire, Hypeddit, ToneDen and Songlink/Odesli are smart-link tools.

A bio page is the permanent hub in your Instagram or TikTok profile. It holds the smart link for the current single, plus tour dates, merch, the mailing list signup and everything else. Beacons, Linktree, Lnk.Bio, Carrd and Linkero are bio-page tools.

The usual mistake is buying one category and expecting it to do the other job. A smart link alone has nowhere to put your tour dates. A bio page alone makes every fan pick a streaming service by hand. The cheap fix is a free smart link pasted as the top button of your bio page.

What do smart links and bio pages cost for musicians?

Prices as listed on each vendor's pricing page, checked October 2026. Yearly-billed prices are per month.

ToolCategoryFree planEntry paid planCustom domain fromSales fee
Feature.fmSmart link + 1 artist bio linkYes (emails collected but locked)$8/mo ($7 yearly)Artist, $19/moNo store, routes out

Three things the table makes obvious:

  • Smart links are cheap to start. Feature.fm and Hypeddit both have free plans with unlimited smart links, and Songlink/Odesli generates one for any released song without an account. You do not need to pay for a smart link until you want pre-saves at scale, fan emails or retargeting.
  • Feature.fm is the one vendor selling both categories in one account. Every Feature.fm plan, including Free, includes one Artist Bio Link. The catch is that the Free plan collects fan emails but makes you upgrade to see them (Basic Artist unlocks 50 per link, Artist 200, Pro Artist all of them).
  • Linktree never offers a custom domain. Its own help center says it does not offer one and does not provide domain forwarding either. If you want links.bandname.com on a press kit, that rules Linktree out.

Best link-in-bio tools for musicians, ranked

Disclosure: Linkero is our own tool. It is ranked where it fits, not first, and the section says when not to use it.

1. Beacons: best free bio page

Beacons has the most generous free bio page on this list: a customizable link in bio, a media kit that updates daily, and unlimited digital products, with 50 email sends a month. The catch is the 9% fee on sales made through Beacons on the Free and Creator plans; it drops to 0% only on Creator Plus at $30/mo. If your merch and music sell on Bandcamp or Shopify, that fee never triggers. A custom domain and branding removal start at Creator, $10/mo.

Verdict: the right first bio page for an emerging artist who sells elsewhere.

2. Feature.fm: best if your link mainly serves releases

Feature.fm is built around smart links, pre-saves and release-day conversion, with one artist bio page on every plan. Pre-saves cover one service on Free, three on Basic Artist and every supported service (Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, Amazon Music and more) from Artist up. Basic Artist ($8/mo) adds tour and event links, 28 days of analytics and access to 50 fan emails per link. Artist ($19/mo) adds the custom domain. It is a release tool first: the bio page is a single page, not a general builder.

Verdict: the best single account for an artist whose bio link is mostly "go listen to the new single."

3. Linkero: best for a designed hub with your own domain

Linkero is a block-based page builder: buttons, embeds (Spotify, YouTube, Vimeo, Google Maps), forms, image and layout blocks, with per-block styling and a hide toggle for swapping release-week content. Built-in analytics, Google Analytics, the Facebook Pixel and the TikTok Pixel are on every paid plan, and the custom domain starts on Pro, the lowest paid plan. See current pricing.

When not to pick Linkero: it is a bio page, not a smart link, so you add a smart link from one of the tools above as a button. It has no built-in store or checkout, so merch lives on Bandcamp or Shopify. And there is no free published plan: you can build and preview for free, but publishing needs a paid plan. If you need $0, Beacons or Lnk.Bio is the better call.

Verdict: for artists who want the page to look like the press kit, on their own domain.

4. Linktree: best for name recognition

Linktree is the name venues and industry contacts already know. The trade-offs for musicians are price and control: removing the Linktree logo needs Pro ($15/mo), there is no custom domain on any plan, and selling through it costs 12% on Free and 9% on Starter and Pro, dropping to 0% only on Premium at $35/mo. Premium also lists dynamic links and smart routing. For a fuller fee breakdown against a mobile-first rival, see Linktree vs Milkshake.

Verdict: pick it when recognition matters more than domain or design.

5. Carrd: best for a DIY one-page site

Carrd builds a full one-page site for an annual fee. Embeds, forms and analytics need Pro Standard ($19/yr), which is also the cheapest tier with a custom domain; the $9/yr Pro Lite has none of those. There is no smart-link logic and no store, so you bolt on a smart link and a shop yourself.

Verdict: the most flexible option per dollar, if you enjoy building.

What are the best smart links for music?

For most independent artists, in this order:

  1. Feature.fm: free plan with unlimited smart links and one bio page; pre-saves and fan emails are where the paid plans earn their price.
  2. Hypeddit: free Rookie plan with unlimited smart links and download gates; paid plans from $9/mo billed yearly add custom domains and ad tracking pixels.
  3. Linkfire: the label-grade option, from $21/mo billed yearly for one artist workspace, with a Teams plan for up to five artists.
  4. Songlink/Odesli: the zero-effort option. Search any released song and you get a working smart link without an account.
  5. ToneDen: FanLinks are free; the $50 and $100 per-profile plans are mainly an automated Facebook and Instagram ads platform.

Do record labels use Linktree, or something else?

For releases, labels mostly use smart links. Linkfire's pricing is built around labels and rosters (a Teams plan for up to five artist workspaces, an Enterprise tier for large labels), and Feature.fm sells a business tier. If you have seen a lnk.to or ffm.to URL on a release post, that is Linkfire or Feature.fm. The bio page is the hub that holds those links, and plenty of signed artists use Linktree or a custom site for it. Copy the structure, not the label budget: a smart link for each release, inside a bio page that lasts.

What is the best tool for selling merch and tickets from a bio link?

If you already sell on Bandcamp, Shopify or a ticketing site, link to them; no bio page fee applies. If you want to sell inside the bio page itself, compare the fees: Beacons takes 9% on Free and Creator and 0% from Creator Plus ($30/mo); Linktree takes 12% on Free, 9% on Starter and Pro, 0% on Premium ($35/mo). For tickets, Feature.fm's tour and event links (Basic Artist and up) and Linkfire's ticket links send fans straight to the seller. Track which post sold the ticket with UTM tags from a UTM builder.

Which should you buy first, a smart link or a bio page?

  • Releasing in the next month: a free smart link (Feature.fm, Hypeddit or Songlink/Odesli) pasted at the top of whatever bio page you already have.
  • Under 1,000 followers, no release scheduled: a free bio page (Beacons or Lnk.Bio). Add a free smart link per release.
  • Pitching venues, press and playlists: a bio page on your own domain (Beacons Creator, Linkero Pro or Carrd Pro Standard), plus a smart link per release.
  • Releasing every few weeks with a team: a paid smart-link plan for pre-saves and fan emails (Feature.fm Artist or Linkfire), with the bio page as the hub.

For the week-by-week version of this, see the release week bio link playbook.

Can I use Bandcamp instead of a link-in-bio tool?

Not really. Bandcamp is where fans buy and listen. A bio link is what gets them there, alongside Spotify, the newsletter, tour dates and merch. As one r/BandCamp comment put it, every extra click loses part of your audience, so the fewer hops between your TikTok and the song, the better.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best free link in bio for musicians?

Beacons for a bio page, since its free plan covers a customizable page, a media kit and 50 email sends a month. Its 9% fee only applies to sales made through Beacons. For releases, add a free smart link from Feature.fm, Hypeddit or Songlink/Odesli.

What is the best bio for a musician on Instagram?

Short and specific: genre or sound in a few words, one proof point (a playlist add, a support slot, a city), and a call to action pointing at the link. Put the newest release at the top of the bio page so the link and the bio say the same thing. More examples in what to put on your link in bio.

What link should I put in my bio as a musician?

One link to a bio page, with the current release's smart link as its top button. Swap the top button each release and leave the rest of the page alone. Pasting a single Spotify link in your profile loses every fan who uses Apple Music, YouTube Music or another service.

Is Feature.fm better than Linktree for artists?

For releases, yes: Feature.fm routes each fan to their own streaming service, runs pre-saves and includes one artist bio link even on the free plan. For a general hub with many links, Linktree is the more familiar bio page, but it has no custom domain on any plan and charges 9% to 12% on sales below Premium.

Do I need a custom domain for my music page?

Not to reach fans, but it is the cheapest piece of professionalism in your stack. Venues and press read links.bandname.com as a real artist setup. It costs $19/yr on Carrd, starts on Beacons Creator, Feature.fm Artist and Linkero Pro, and is not available on Linktree.

The short version

Buy the category that matches what you do most, then add the other one cheaply. Releasing often: Feature.fm. Growing on a budget: Beacons. Pitching with your own domain: Linkero or Carrd. Need the name everyone knows: Linktree. Whatever you pick, put a smart link at the top of it.
